@t2.genius.com

Paul De Leon, the Australian born singer-songwriter, recently released a new single, ‘Criminals’ and showcased yet again his innate talent as a follow on from the successes of his previous releases ‘The One You Want’ and ‘Take It Away’.

Before growing into a singing and song writing career, Paul De Leon was an accomplished and successful drummer and guitarist in his own right.  Based in a mellow indie rock vibe, Paul’s sound is loaded with clever chords and hooks and coupled with brilliant instrumentation.  His song writing oozes passion and authenticity, both lyrically and melodically offering the listener a beau geste of a song.

“A Track Which Will Leave You Itching To Click Replay”

With its slick production, mellow drumbeat and riffy guitar tones, ‘Criminals’ is a track full of sonic atmosphere and exceptional originality.  There is a lingering at the open of the track, leading into a solid back beat, seamlessly led through by Paul’s smooth, effortless vocals, which is clearly his forte.  He delivers his lyrics with incredible passion and expression, establishing a deep connection.  It’s a track you can attach to and find your way with, lyrically and musically.  Paul’s dexterous vocalese leaves something held back, something wanting, in an effort to draw you in and asking for more.  The track echoes a little rock overtone but also meanders in style and voice which makes it accessible to all.

Paul De Leon has demonstrated his command as an artist with every track he’s released. His music speaks to the modern variation of indie-rock perfectly.  Its smooth without being ambient but enough substance to truly find a place in.  He has surely cemented himself as ‘one to watch’ in the indie scene, and certainly in the years to come without doubt.  If chilled out indie-rock is your thing, give ‘Criminals’ a try, it’s one to fall in love with.
