However Dj Popo had a lot of hands on learning at an early age. Standing in the shadows of greats at one point, shows in every set. Having grown up on a combination of Hip Hop, Caribbean, Reggaeton, R&B, and more PoPo is not deemed a scratch master for no reason. Popo’s set over time became infused with his own love for both hip-hop and hard-hitting mixes and blends. Today, this translates into sets where he picks apart and infuses together all the pieces of this music that he loves best: beautiful synth work, ethereal backdrops, brooding basslines, and occasional vocal hooks… all on top of a pronounced foot-shuffling sounds. Born in Brooklyn, New York, with a Panamanian background, you know the catalog of such Dj would be eclectic in range and genres. Many may not know that from a toddler Dj Popo was spinning records. Things started with his Dad giving him a rotation of music to learn. Learning the perfect breaks in records started with Alicia Myers and Mary J. Not knowing yet, what the records meant, he found out at a young age to blend, scratch and mix at a very young age.
There’s no limit to what you may end up jamming out to when at a Popo party. He will take the most old school impossible record and mix it with a new school track, no other Dj would try.
