Leah Kate, a native of Los Angeles, California, was raised by her music-loving family and started singing at five. She is an upcoming artist in the USA for 2021 who practically runs her label from her bedroom. Leah is a true-blue go-getter who, and besides being her manager and creative director, she is also label head, publicist, marketing strategist, and artist.

Leah began releasing music regularly and professionally when she lost her job while living in New York, even though she’s been singing and writing songs since a very young age. Listeners describe her music as a retro electronic sound with a passionate vibe filled with hope and a fusion of the 90s and the 2020s. The music she produces reflects her “IDGAF” attitude, and the lyrics are incredibly relatable, as well as being upbeat disco and featuring oldies’ influences.

Who is Leah Kate?

As a young female pop singer, Kate had to deal with the same problem as most young artists: how to get the attention of a broad audience without the financial support of a billion-dollar label? Fortunately, TikTok music in 2021 was the obvious answer to that question. As she did with music production, she began messaging popular TikTok creators every day and asking them to make videos with her song, and she never stopped posting her clips on the platform every day. Ohanian saw “Fuck Up the Friendship” and called it a hit hiding in plain sight. He facilitated his deal with Kate through Indify, a platform that allows partners to communicate without ever leaving the platform.

In February 2020, She released another song, “Boyfriend,” which was a follow-up on her banger, Fuck Up the Friendship (FUTF). The song is about the story of a young woman who has successfully moved on from a failed relationship. Even though she now has a new boyfriend, her ex still hopes to win her back. She has, however, moved on from him, his drama, and whatever they once had together. In her words, “boyfriend” is intended to empower girls and guys to break free from toxic relationships and stop recycling exes who aren’t good for them.

From the very start, “Boyfriend” exudes a brash vibe with attitude, a bold and funky track that immediately draws you in with its playful production. She turns her troubles about having a boyfriend into a refreshing and catchy dance floor hit by focusing on the line, “I have a boyfriend now; it’s a little late to talk this out.”

The dynamic production of “Boyfriend” is blended with a 90’s twist to deliver delightful ear candy. It is a fun, evocative pop song at its finest with Leah’s dramatic and intoxicating vocals. Her lessons from her own life and thoughts encourage her to practice self-love. This track continues the story of how Leah Kate messed up her friendship with a guy she talked about in “Fuck Up The Friendship.” The guy is now her boyfriend. In her own words, “I was shocked to see how many guys/exes came running back once we started dating and when they came running back, they realized it was too late.” Incorporating Leah Kate’s trademark addictive vocals and a myriad of dance soundscapes, “Boyfriend” is the perfect sequel.

What’s Next for Leah Kate?

Recently, she released an anthem for those who have recently broken up, “Veronica,” but it has a twist! Affirming the feminist value of solidarity and empowerment alongside the “other woman,” the song flips the cheater and another woman paradigm on its head. She describes her night out when she discovers that her boyfriend has cheated on her in the music. Her vocals demonstrate the power of girl power as she sings, “thank you for the new best friend.” She implies that Veronica will be her friend in the future with the repeated line, “she seems like a keeper, maybe I’ll keep her.”

She has created a hooky single that everyone will love with blunt lyricism and catchy melodies. According to her team, the song is “the perfect summer anthem to groove to while kicking all of the manchildren out of our lives.”
